Summertime in Colorado is so special to me. I have loved it since me moved here when I was young, and I will probably always love it. There's something so magical about the way a huge storm blows in out of nowhere off of the mountains between 3 and 4pm nearly every day, cooling down temperatures by 5-15 degrees. Something amazing about the way that we can still have that one perfect 75 degree day in the middle of July.
Yesterday, it was a good day. It didn't get too much above 85. We had a little rain shower for 20 minutes, and the clouds were in for 35 or so. It cooled off so nicely, and when I stepped out of the office, I knew i my heart, I couldn't be stuck inside all night doing an indoor workout, then homework. I needed to run. So imagine my delight, when my new running clothes I had ordered were waiting in my mailbox!
The entire outfit, shoes included, care of Brooks Running. Oh, did I mention that I ordered the shorts and shirt Tuesday morning? No? Consider yourselves informed.
I'm going to tell you now, I didn't set any PRs on this run. I didn't go that far, and I walked part of it too. In the end, I did 2.82 miles in 38 minutes. And that's just ducky, because it had been a long time since I'd done a run longer than a mile. it had been a long time since I felt like putting on my shoes and pounding the pavement. It was glorious, just the way it was. A perfect run, on a perfect evening.
In cute new running duds.
Have a great weekend, friends.
I have been wanting to try Brooks for awhile now. When I need to replace my Nikes I'm definitely looking into Brooks.
ReplyDeleteSounds wonderful! =) I remember running down our gravel road in the spring, and it was so nice outside. I really enjoyed it. And now is 112 degrees outside and I'm turning into a fatty, haha!
ReplyDeletesounds horrible.
ReplyDeletePerfect perfect perfect!!!! It sounds like perfection!
ReplyDeletewhuuuuuuuuuuut. i'm a huge, HUGE, Brooks lover. i even wrote an entire blogpost about how much i love their shoes.
ReplyDeleteanother thing in common, i see. ;)
I've never worn brooks! Saucony's seem to be just right for my feet.
ReplyDeleteI also hate running, though, so there you go.
Maybe if I had a pair of Brooks I'd like it?
Nothing like new workout clothes to get you motivated :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of the Couch to 5k program. I like that it takes it slow and alternates between running and walking. Without that regimen, I usually overdo it!
Glad you're enjoying summer!
