The honeymoon pre-game show

Happy Monday!

I may be the only person on the planet for whom this is true, but I kind of like Mondays.  They set the stage for the whole week, and sometimes that can mean you are going to have a wonderful, fun, busy week.  Also, they're just so dang productive.  By Friday, focusing on work is hard... but on Monday, I'm ready to tackle all of the things.

We spent our weekend up in Idaho Springs for my first ever half marathon.  I don't want to talk too much about those 13.1 miles today, because that deserves its very own post.  Instead, I want to talk about how we totally pre-gamed our honeymoon over the weekend.  All honeymoons deserve a good warm-up, right???

We stayed at a very rustic, historic place called the Indian Hot Springs.  It was absolutely perfect for our needs, especially since it was walking distance to everywhere we wanted/needed to be.  Our room also included use of the pool that is fed by the hot spring.  This alone was reason enough to book this hotel, given the whole running 13.1 miles just for the heck of it situation that was going on.

Need more proof it's rustic???  No card keys.  Ammon's mind was blown.

Friday night when we got into town we decided the place we wanted to be was Tommyknocker brewery and pub.  This is a pretty famous brewery in CO, and we were excited to have a good reason to make the 2.5 hour drive.

Those are some of their beer awards.  It was impressive.  Also, I took a picture of the sign, but Google+ didn't seem to want to auto-upload it from my phone and I'm lazy, so you just have to trust me that we were there.

The sampler was 10 beers.  10!!!  It is the first time we have left beer on the table at the end of a tasting, but with a half marathon early the next morning, a significant increase in alcohol, and a slightly later than normal start on our drinking, we gave ourselves a free pass.  We liked almost all of the beers, the only one that was disliked was their lager.  That's about as deep of a beer review as I can muster right now.  Sorry.

Apparently my new phone montages if I take enough pictures in quick succession.  Neato.

We wrapped up there and I was tucked into bed by 9:45pm, in anticipation of a 4:45am wake up.Then some stuff happened Saturday morning.  Like I said, it's its own thing.  Blah, blah, blah.

Magically, it was the afternoon on Saturday.  Wow!  We went and had lunch at a pizza place that served big honkin' calzones and unlimited salad bar, so that's what I had.  I out-ate Ammon, which is kind of par for the course.  I tend to out-eat most people.  After lunch, we went back to the resort and soaked in the pool for a while.  It was awesome.  I convinced Ammon that the only appropriate follow-up to soaking in the pool was to watch HGTV take a nap while pretending to watch HGTV.  Glorious.

Eventually, we made our way back downtown for dinner at the local Mexican restaurant.  It was kind of a let-down, but we had an awesome discount card from Indian Hot Springs, so we had discounts for most of our meals.  Sometimes cheap makes a not great meal less bad... at least to me.  Ammon wasn't really of the same mind.  I know this is going to be totally shocking, but we were back in bed by 10:00.  We're wild and crazy, I tell you.

Sunday was really the kind of day where we wanted to linger on our time away as much as possible.  We asked the front desk where to go for breakfast, and 3 out of 4 Hotel staff members recommended Marion's of the Rockies.

And with a big glittery sign, how could we not go?  It was certainly the best food of the trip.

And they kept the coffee coming, which is always one of my requirements.  After breakfast, we got donuts from the local pastry shop, because Ammon has been craving a donut since the 4th of July.  I was eager to oblige.

The rest of our Sunday was spent driving back home, eating Chipotle, grocery shopping, watching "Extreme Makeover: Weight loss", and Chinese food for dinner.  Oh it was glorious.  And thus, I leave you today with an inspirational fortune cookie message.

Indeed.
